Collaborative Family Practice

Collaborative Family Practice, in a nutshell, helps the parties:

  • Focus on creating a settlement that is effective and lasting
  • Feel like they’ve been heard so they can move beyond the emotional minefield to achieve a future-oriented agreement
  • Make decisions from a child focused and highest interest-based values rather than negative family dynamics

In the Collaborative Family Process, you will be encouraged to act out of mutual respect, not anger or spite.

You will develop your problem-solving skills, as open and positive models of communication are demonstrated by the collaborative team including the lawyers and any collaborative specialist such as a child or financial adviser. As the children’s needs are paramount, each collaborative family settlement process must be child focused.

By agreeing to stay out of court, you are able to maintain control of the process and not hand it over to the judges and the judicial system where any thing can happen including a complete shut down for an indefinite period of time due to a pandemic! Collaborative family settlement process are able to continue despite these setbacks by using remote platforms that incorporate all the features of in person meetings.
